My professional details

I have a BSc (first-class honours) and a Diploma in Environment and Development from the UK's Open University and an MA in Mass Communications from Leicester University (Centr for Mass Communications Research, UK). I recently taught Communications and Media Studies at the International University Geneva as adjunct professor and took a PhD (magna cum laude, awarded August 2004) at the European Graduate School (www.egs.edu) in Media and Communications.

In addition for the past 25 years, I have been a communications consultant for a number of international organizations, including the World Economic Forum and International Chamber of Commerce, the UNCTAD/WTO International Trade Centre, the Swiss Science Council's magazine Vision, IUCN–The World Conservation Union, the United Nations Environment Programme and Rolex Awards for Enterprise, among others.

I have long experience in journalism of all kinds. I have worked for Reuters News Agency, The Guardian, Swiss Radio International and other media enterprises. I am now developing a network on new media issues.

I was also joint owner and Managing Editor of CROSSLINES Global Report , a newsjournal that ran for several years on humanitarian issues, and co-founder of the NGO International Centre for Humanitarian Reporting (succeeded by Media Action International). I am currently Secretary of Crosslines Essential Media Ltd. and deputy editor of its projects Global-Geneva.com and Global Insights Magazine.

I have designed a number of websites, teaching materials for strategy-makers on trade issues and tourism (Internet and CD-ROM based), and different kinds of publications.

I have also been communications advisor for a number of projects targeted to executive-level officials and higher. I have certificates in Web design for educational purposes with XML (University of Geneva, December 2004), CSS and Javascript (Virtual University, December 2005), as well as many others from online education sites about web and programming issues.
